A quiet place to think
Why we're writing, and what this space is really for.
This blog exists for the same reason Somna does-not to optimise anything or fix anyone, but to slow things down enough to notice what’s already happening.
Most of us don’t have new problems. We have familiar ones. Patterns that keep showing up in slightly different forms. The same thoughts, the same reactions, the same moments where you think, “I know this already… so why am I still here?”
Somna was built out of that question. This blog is a place to sit with it a little longer.
What I’ll write about here
You won’t find productivity hacks or five-step plans.
What you will find are pieces about:
- Patterns - how emotional loops form, why they repeat, and what helps them soften
- Beliefs - the quiet assumptions underneath our reactions, and how they shape behaviour
- The body - what shows up physically before we have words for it
- Gentler change - why forcing insight rarely works, and why steadiness often does
- Building Somna - what I’m learning as I design a product around care, not pressure
Some posts will be practical. Some will be reflective. Some will just be observations I couldn’t shake.
Why write at all?
Understanding doesn’t always arrive in the moment. Sometimes it shows up later-when you read something that names an experience you didn’t quite have language for.
This isn’t a content feed. There’s no schedule, no newsletter you’re expected to keep up with. Think of it as somewhere you can return to when something resonates.
A note on tone
Somna isn’t therapy. This blog isn’t either.
Nothing here is advice. Nothing here is diagnostic. If something feels useful, hold onto it. If not, leave it behind. That’s true for the app too.
If you’d like to follow along
You can subscribe to the RSS feed if that’s your thing. Otherwise, I’ll just keep writing when there’s something worth saying.
No pressure. No streaks.
